Let's go for a Walk Down By The River

A walk down by the river?

Sometimes the best things on a trip are the free things.

Things that are not on the agenda. The only thing it will cost you and your family is a little extra effort in finding them. Perhaps even that can be part of the fun if you keep an open mind.

Let me share with you one of our favorite things to do here in Sevierville.

Off we go

I meet a lot of families at my work-place in Pigeon Forge. Every chance I get I tell them about the Memorial Greenway walking trail in Sevierville.

The Memorial Greenway in Sevierville is a paved little trail that runs along the river's edge all the way from the Chapman Hwy. Bridge in front of Hardee's to the Sevierville City Park. It is approximately 1.75 miles all the way to the City park. Come to Sevierville, get on Chapman Hwy., find the Farmer's Co-Op and Hardee's and you will see the beginning of the walk at the bridge.

We walk it every chance we get which is about 3 or 4 time a week. We don't think of it as exercise. We think of it as food for the soul.

I guess it may be to boring for those who want all their time filled with action like Go-Karts and amusement rides and such. Those things have their place I guess, but if you want some Peace and Quite mingled into your journey's here, I think you and your family would enjoy this little walk.

James...I need my eyes

" The aspects of things that are most important to us are hidden because of their simplicity and familiarity". Prof. Ludwig Wittgenstein, Professor of Philsophy Helsinki University, 1889-1951

If you get tired there is a bench about every quarter mile for you to relax and take in the Peace.

"The happiest heart that ever beat Was in some quiet breast That found the common daylight sweet, And left to Heaven the rest". John V. Cheney Artist 1710-1758

"Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler". Albert Einstein 1879-1955

I hope my inserted quotes are not boring to you.

I just want to share with you my appreciation for Simplicity.

The Memorial Greenway River walk passes The McMahan Burial Mound where you will find a Gazebo and pinic tables if you would like to have a nice little picnic.

There are also many Cranes of some kind that fish all day long...very cool

The Memorial Greenway is where for a small donation you can come and plant a tree or even have a permanent plaque installed in memory of loved ones. The City of Sevierville will insure the guaranteed livability of each tree. If you would like more info on how to do that here is the link: Memorial.

I think you and your family would love this little walk beside the "Little Pigeon River". You should have no trouble finding it. You may even find wonderful memories there.

"What greater thing is there for two human souls than to feel that they are joined... to strengthen each other... to be one with each other in silent unspeakable memories." George Eliot 1819-1880

I believe that if you and your family will take the time to slow down, stop and look around...
