The annual Bloomin BBQ and Bluegrass is very quickly becoming the most anticipated event in Sevierville.
Bluegrass Music
If you can make it to Sevierville while the Tennessee State Chanmpioinship BBQ Cook-Off is going on, you will not regret it.
This is the third year that the State Championship BBQ Cook-Off has been held in Beautiful down town Sevierville. For the last three years it has been held on the third weekend in May. Let's hope and pray that it continues to be held here.
When they hold a competition like this and award $15,000 in cash and prizes to the winners you know for a fact that some of the best BBQ Masters in the State will show up.
Trophies Galore!
And show up they did! You couldn't walk down the city streets without seeing one Award winning Attendee after another.
Carolina Rib King Defends the Crown
It was estimated that over 3,000 pounds of Pork were cooked during the competition. My guess is that it must have been way more than that because I must have ate at least 15 pounds worth myself and there were thousands of BBQ lovers eating almost non-stop over the course of the two day event. Can you say...PeptoBizmol?
Big Pigs were everywhere

Down Town Vendors
One of the other wonderful things were all the unique vendors that were set up all along the down town streets of Sevierville.
Down Town Streets
It was perfect weather although the sun did start to burn the top of my Bloomin bald head after a few hours.
Someone was kind enough to take our picture together
Hat vendor...I should have bought one
If you come next year make sure you bring enough extra cash to splurge on the street vendors.
The Butterfly couple
Here you see a few photos of the Flight of Fancy vendor. They create very unique pieces of artwork from real butterflys from all around the world. Each one is handmade and framed. After admiring their work I had to buy Sarah one. She chose a beautiful framed green butterfly from Indonesia. It is awsome.
I think you see what I'm talking about.
More Butterflys
Yellow Heart Butterflys
I quickly had to move on before I $pent too much at one place.

BBQ'ers in action
There were some very clever names of commpetitors this year at the Bloomin BBQ. Here are a few of them.
Saggy Bottom Swine Smokers
You can Smell our Butts A Mile Away
You Poke It..We'll Smoke It
Jerry's Tender Butt BBQ
There may have been some silly sounding names butt let me tell you, when you tried a sample of their BBQ the silly sounding name was the last thing on your mind. All you could think of was hoping you had enough room left for more BBQ...Delicious!
If BBQ wasn't enough to blow your diet completely out of the water there were other wonderful temptations to wrestle with at the Bloomin BBQ...
Ribbon Fries
Who can resist Funnel Cakes?
More Funnel Cakes
This year they held a Dolly Parton song singing competition. People from all over came and sang their favorite Dolly Parton song.
It was held on the Courthouse Entrance.

Long Lines...but worth it
Are you Hungry yet?
If you can make it to the Bloomin BBQ just one time, I think you and your family will make it a point to schedule a trip to Sevierville around the same time every year. What more could you ask for? Great weather...Great folk...Great Food!
See ya There!
